Teaching Career in India - Why We Need Skilled Teachers?

The next big thing in India is E-learning & education. Although the government agencies have been working to improve the literacy rate from past few decades, the efforts are not getting the desired results. India is a country with 41% young populace.

The youth has a declining interest in teaching & education. The advent of computers & E-learning has made a new revolution in the field of education. Teaching is one of the hot & trending profession that needs thousands of skilled professionals in India itself.

In India, teaching professionals have to go through the teaching eligibility test in order to ensure the minimum eligibility to hold the noble position of assistant professor/lecturer/teacher in any Indian academic institute. The primary education professionals have to qualify a similar test as well.
The popular teaching eligibility tests are as follows:

CBSE UGC NET Exam - 


This exam is conducted by CBSE on behalf of University Grant Commission(UGC) for the assessment of teaching aptitude & professional knowledge of lectureship aspirants in 93 Arts & Humanities subjects. Approximately 4.5 Lakh candidates appear in this exam in each session(June & December). However, UGC & HRD have decided to scrap its biannual nature & now on the exam will be held once a year. This exam also gives candidates an opportunity to pursue career in research fellowship.

CSIR NET - 


CSIR NET exam is for the Science stream lectureship aspirants. There are approximately 3 lakh candidates appearing in the exam in every session(June & December). The exam is conducted for assistant professor & JRF both. Till now, the exam is held biannually & it is conducted for following five subjects:

Life Science
Mathematical Science
Physical Science
Chemical Science
Earth Science
Note: Engineering stream candidates, who want to pursue career in teaching, shall appear in GATE exam. CSIR had discontinued Engineering Science from December 2015.

CTET - 


CTET exam is one of the most sought teaching eligibility test in India. The convener authority of CTET is CBSE. Central teaching eligibility test is for the recruitment of teachers in central government schools like Kendriya Vidhyalaya(KV), Jawahar Navodaya School etc. The score card of CTET is valid for seven years. The success rates in exam lies between 1% to 14%.

Why India Needs Skilled Teachers?


The importance of education in the progress of a country is not deniable so far. A country with skilled professionals & good ethics grows by leap & bound in many dimensions. Skilled teachers ensure the supreme quality of education & better next generation to meet the goals in future. NSDC and its Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) has launched many skill development programs for teachers. Apart from the efforts at the government's end, there are many educational initiatives like Skillfest 2017, MHRD teacher training courses, Zeelearn teacher training program etc.
